Histology Embryology I, VB301, is designed to instruct the student in histology and developmental anatomy of domestic animals and avians. The course begins with introductory microscopy and cell biology. The histology of basic tissues follows. After cells and their organization into tissues have been discussed, developmental anatomy is introduced with a series of lectures tracing embryonic develoment from fertilization to formation of organs. The final portion of the course covers the developmental anatomy and histology of organ systems including cardiovascular, immune, and musculoskeletal systems and the special senses.
The overall goal of Histology Embryology I is to teach the student the normal developmental, microscopic and ultrastructural anatomy of domestic animals and avians. An important component of this course is the correlation of structure of cells, tissues, and organs with function. Whenever possible, clinical cases will be included.
